Dallas Editorial Photography (With Family Style)

Fort Worth-based Steel Shutter Photography specializes in editorial photography. A regular contributor to publications such as 360 West Magazine and 817 Home, Jeremy Enlow loves to photograph the area’s most innovative and inspiring homes.  Looking at the photoshoot below, you can see why. This Frank Lloyd Wright style home is located just a few minutes from downtown Fort Worth but you would never know. The home isn’t just architecturally stunning, it’s also nestled in an incredible location. The property is surrounded by trees, has river access to the Trinity, and a view of Lake Worth.  Although the city center is just a couple of minutes away, the home feels secluded in its own natural paradise.

“I love contemporary style homes and this was a great find by editor Meda Kessler.  The walk from the porch down to the river felt like I was hiking the remote wilderness.” -Jeremy Enlow

Filled stunning design features and a lush landscape, the home also boasts family-friendly perks. A large wood sandbox inspires the children’s architectural inclinations. Meanwhile, a swing and kid-sized chairs encourage patio lounging for all ages.

Jeremy’s love of contemporary homes and design has led to many interesting collaborations with 360 West. You can read more about his shoot with Jovili designer Stephen Rivers for the May 2017 issue in this blog post.

3 Interesting Facts about Fort Worth Architecture

1. Art Deco is the name of the game in Downtown

While Fort Worth boasts many stunning contemporary homes, the Downtown area is most well known for its iconic Art Deco buildings. Particularly well-known buildings include the Blackstone Hotel, which hosted many famous guests (including several United States Presidents), and the T & P Station. Both are extremely visible in the area, and add to the city’s unique, 1920s-inspired style.

2. There have been a lot of firsts

Fort Worth has often been at the front of architectural innovation. The Flatiron building was the tallest building in North Texas when it was constructed in 1907; it was also one of the city’s first steel frame buildings. Similarly, the W.T. Waggoner was one of the tallest buildings in the Southwest when it was constructed in 1919.

3. Some of the buildings are works of art

Perhaps the most notable example is the Kimbell Art Museum, which was designed by renowned architect Louis Kahn. Begun in 1966 to house one of the nation’s most impressive art collections, the building is itself a work of art. An expansion to the museum was designed by Renzo Piano, and opened in 2006. Both buildings are incredible in and of themselves.
